Popping in a Quasi album is like popping a confetti bomb – playful, vibrant, mischievous. The Portland-based trio uses spiraling yet controlled instrumentation to deliver thoughtful, at-times melodramatic tunes with both playful (robotic farm animal sound effects) and political (anti-war!) agendas. Mixed in with guitars, keyboards, drums, and bass are hints of twang, sock hop-worthy melodies, sitar-like sounds, West Coast jazz horns, and luau accents. The result is an ever-changing melodic adventure that goes from being beach-y mellow to having the energy of a house party with zoo animals
