The local church halls where Civil Twilight practiced in their early days were ideal platforms for capturing the echoing, vast sound of this alternative trio.  Though their product is no church music, Civil Twilight’s eerie, passionate, and grand sounds are as gripping as the most commanding of sermons.  Unreserved guitar build-ups and melodic piano chords are mixed with Progressive and Brit-Pop influences that sound at points familiar, but also different from anything that a British or American band could create.  Perhaps it is the inspiration taken from the band’s Cape Town roots that evoke subtle shades of undulating grays, and images of flying over open plains or standing on majestic cliffs overlooking the endless southern Atlantic Ocean.

Civil Twilight will be playing a surely memorable show at Great Scott tonight with Reni Lane.  Below is a taste of what to expect, though you can expect it in a much grander format.
