Despite their relative youth as a band, musical duo Alex Caplow and Steve Lee bring inspiring ripeness to their soft, synth-pop anthems as Magic Man. The band’s debut Real Life Color pairs lo-fi elements with vibrant, upbeat accents that infiltrate melodies like an electrical rainstorm. The 10-track album charters a course along a softly swelling spectrum; along with frenetic downpours, it’s also filled with bright patches of summer sunshine, the fresh smell of poppies blowing in a Provence breeze, and slow, scratchy build-ups not unlike the fuzzy backdrops of a daydream.
