Amtrak’s Empire Builder train line stretches from Chicago to Seattle. If you take it during the winter, you’ll find yourself racing along steep evergreen and snow-covered mountains when you get to Washington. At times the angles are so steep it’s impossible to see the train tracks below and it seems as if the train is floating above the mountains. It’s an experience not to be missed and one that would be perfectly complemented by Letting up Despite Great Faults’ new self-titled album. Although the tempos tend to be driving, there is a stunning calmness to the songs that matches the steady rhythm of the Empire Builder as it gently slides by the silent and untouched mountain snow.
Currently on a cross-country tour, LA’s Letting Up Despite Great Faults will be making a stop in Boston at the Middle East Upstairs on Monday as part of a stellar bill of Foundwaves Weekly Picks that also includes Plumerai and The Brother Kite.
Check out a teaser trailer for their upcoming music video for “Our Younger Noise” directed by Christopher j Ewing.
