Via Audio, another Boston band lured away by Brooklyn’s pied piper, found their way back up to the Middle East Upstairs for a packed CD release party on February 26. Although their second CD wasn’t going to be officially released until March 9, the quartet didn’t let that oversight put any damper on the release party.
Eyes lined with warpaint, singer Jessica Martins smiled through each song as she and her bandmates grooved their way through tracks off the new record. With a front line covering fashion from three decades – guitarist Tom Deis, ’60s hippie, bassist David Lizmi, ’70s lounge lizard, and Jessica Martins, ’80s Breakfast Club – the band fused inspiration from all three eras into a smooth indie pop sound atop drummer Adam Sturtevants’ beats. The audience, grateful that Brooklyn lets its bands out of the borough every once in awhile, kept the floor bouncing until the final notes of the set.
