Thieving Irons, the musical moniker of Brooklyn’s Nate Martinez, nudges the tired into a daydream, convincing him that that fog in his mind is waves at his feet.

“With These Lights On” builds murky anticipation, as organ tones measure the depth of the black water. Ripples abound – electronic circles of reverb – as the dreamer falters, eventually taking the plunge.

He sinks deeper in “Babylon Is Burning,” finally lapping upon shore with a sense of pining satisfaction and Martinez’s auburn voice, safe-sounding. Like a return to equilibrium after days at sea, Thieving Irons musters a chiming nostalgia in  “Wave’s Gonna Break” and takes in the coast’s oscillating welcome before taking flight, reality returning.
