The 27th annual MayFair is coming to Harvard Square this weekend.  On Sunday, May 2nd, swing by the Square between noon and 6pm to catch performances, Chalk on the Walk, beer gardens, hot air balloon rides, and much more.  Of course, a big highlight of MayFair is the awesome live music and dance shows happening on six stages throughout the day.  The best part is that it’s all free and open to the public.  Below are some highly recommended bands playing on various music stages at MayFair.

Oranjuly (Press Photo)

Playing the Border Cafe Stage at 5pm is Boston’s Oranjuly.  Upbeat, quirky, and surging with summer, Oranjuly’s indie power-pop songs form the perfect soundtrack for a celebratory day in the city or at the beach.  The Border Cafe Stage is located in the Church Street Parking Lot.  Stream “Personal Ads” below and download free tracks from Oranjuly here.

The Action Verbs (Press Photo)

Action Verbs are no strangers to the MayFaire stage, having played before in 2008.  Strong vocals and prominent guitar and bass drive the powerful, anthem-like tracks.  They’ll be rocking the Main Stage, located in the “Super Crosswalk” in front of Out of Town News, at 3:15pm.

John Shade (Press Photo)

Mellow guitar plucking are the backdrop to John Shade‘s crooning, which can be enjoyed on the Passim Stage at 1pm (0n Brattle Street in front of City Sports).  Refreshingly reminiscent of long drives on wooded New England roads, John Shade artfully combines the upbeat and melancholic to create truly memorable music.
